Fiat Unit Asks DC Circ. To Nix NLRB's Health Plan Ruling

Law360, Washington (January 17, 2012, 3:37 PM EST) -- Fiat SpA subsidiary Comau Inc. told the D.C. Circuit on Tuesday that the National Labor Relations Board fouled up in finding that it illegally implemented a health care plan for its employees without their union's approval and without bargaining to impasse.

Comau, which builds automated assembly lines and specialty tools for the automotive industry, failed to reach a new collective bargaining agreement with its union after it expired in March 2008, with the health care benefits and their associated costs as the main sticking point. In...
