DOT Fines Icelandair For Deceptive Ticket Price Ads

Law360, Chicago (January 18, 2012, 5:05 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation fined Icelandair Group $50,000 on Wednesday for allegedly using online advertisements that violated consumer disclosure rules by failing to properly display ticket taxes and fees.

In a consent order, the DOT said Icelandair violated federal aviation laws and the department's rules prohibiting deceptive price advertising in air travel by advertising fares that failed to state the entire price to be paid, an offense that constituted unfair methods of competition.
