EC Examines Takeovers By State-Run Funds

Law360, New York (July 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Spurred by concern that state-run investment groups may be taking over companies for political reasons, the European Commission will take a closer look at national funds.

The Commission said on Thursday that it would study concerns that had been voiced about state-run funds that have bought out companies for political, rather than financial, reasons.
