DOJ Scrutinizes Martin Marietta's $5B Bid For Vulcan

Law360, New York (January 18, 2012, 9:08 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has asked for more information on the roughly $4.7 billion hostile takeover bid that construction aggregates producer Martin Marietta Materials Inc. made for rival Vulcan Materials Co. in December, Vulcan disclosed Wednesday.

Vulcan said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that on Tuesday it had received a civil investigative demand and a request for additional information and documentary material from the DOJ related to the Vulcan offer.
