Duke Energy Scraps Plans For 200-MW Mich. Wind Farm

Law360, New York (January 19, 2012, 1:24 PM EST) -- Duke Energy Corp.'s renewable power division has scrapped plans for a 200-megawatt wind farm in northern Michigan, the company confirmed Thursday, citing lower-than-expected demand for renewable power in the state's wholesale market.

Duke Energy Renewables LLC said the proposed Gail Windpower Project had not secured a long-term agreement with a power purchaser and that “the timing for this particular project may not align with the anticipated need for renewable power” in Michigan.
