Suit Over Outdated Coal Ash Regulation Looms For EPA

Law360, New York (January 19, 2012, 8:05 PM EST) -- The Sierra Club and 10 other health and environment groups on Wednesday signaled their plans to sue the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to urge it to implement federal rules over the disposal of toxic coal ash.

In an intent-to-sue letter, the groups claimed that the EPA had not met its three-year deadline to revise outdated rules to dispose industrial solid waste, failing to meet its obligations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, which calls for the EPA to limit wastes that threaten the environment....
