Dutch Utility Shelves $6.5B Plan To Build 2nd Nuke Plant

Law360, New York (January 23, 2012, 4:26 PM EST) -- The European financial crisis and a related drop in energy prices has led Dutch utility Delta NV to shelve a plan to construct a second nuclear power plant in the city of Borssele, Delta said Monday, putting the reported $6.5 billion project on hold.

The Middelburg-based utility noted that the Dutch government still favors increased use of nuclear power as part of a plan to reduce carbon emissions and said plans could resume in two to three years should the economy improve and the right financing emerge....
