EPA Settles 2 Pollution Suits, To GOP's Dismay

Law360, New York (January 24, 2012, 1:42 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Friday it had settled in principle a pair of lawsuits in Massachusetts federal court seeking stricter regulations to clean up nitrogen pollution in Cape Cod, prompting criticism from Republican lawmakers.

The EPA has worked out an agreement with the Conservation Law Foundation Inc. and the Coalition For Buzzards Bay Inc. to settle the suits, but asked a federal judge stay court proceedings until May 21 to allow time for the parties to formally ink the deal.
