Australia To Add Pressure On Iran With Oil Import Ban

Law360, New York (January 24, 2012, 6:20 PM EST) -- Australia’s minister for foreign affairs on Tuesday called Iran’s nuclear ambitions “globally unacceptable” and said his country would impose sanctions on Iranian oil imports similar to those the European Union rolled out Monday.

In comments made following a defense meeting with U.K. foreign and defense ministers in London, Foreign Affairs Minister Kevin Rudd said Australia was prepared to undertake sanctions on Iranian oil imports parallel to those announced by the Council of the European Union.
