EU Adopts New IP Regulations

Law360, New York (July 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has adopted two key trademark reforms aimed at bringing Community law in line with standards set by the World Intellectual Property Organization.

The new regulations bring the EU one step closer to full accession to WIPO, which was approved by the European Parliament in December 2006. Once the EC's trademark policies are fully linked to those of WIPO, member states will have the ability to apply for trademarks across the EU and all Geneva Act countries with a single application.
