CoolBrands, Weight Watchers Settle Trademark Licensing Dispute Over Frozen Treats

Law360, New York (February 19, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Frozen treats maker CoolBrands International Inc. and dieting giant WeightWatchers have settled their lawsuits over a collapsed trademark licensing deal.

Under the terms of the agreement, CoolBrands will stop manufacturing ice cream carrying the Weight Watchers name on May 1 and Wells Dairy Inc. will become the exclusive maker of the products, the companies said.

Last year, CoolBrands sued Weight Watchers for $360 million in response to a lawsuit filed by Weight Watchers over alleged violation of a license pact if it continued to sell products...
