Metal Cos. Pick Up Harmony Gold Mine For $219M

Law360, New York (January 30, 2012, 7:54 PM EST) -- South Africa-based Harmony Gold Mining Co. Ltd. has agreed to sell its subsidiary Evander Gold Mines Ltd. to two metals companies for 1.7 billion rand ($219 million), according to Monday filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Through an equal joint partnership, United Kingdom-based precious metals producer Pan African Resources PLC and South African exploration company Witwatersrand Consolidated Gold Resources Ltd. will pay 1.4 billion rand upon the deal's closing, which is expected later this summer, with the rest of the agreed-upon price arriving in...
