Nuclear Utility Fees Should Fund Waste Program: Panel

Law360, New York (February 2, 2012, 3:27 PM EST) -- A presidential panel urged the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Thursday to pass legislation to steer the roughly $750 million in federal fees collected annually from nuclear utilities back into the nuclear waste management program it was supposed to fund.

President Obama’s Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future testified that the waste management program, the Nuclear Waste Fund, would continue to languish if it had to keep competing for federal funds.
