House Panel Passes 3 Bills To Expand Oil, Gas Drilling

Law360, New York (February 1, 2012, 6:34 PM EST) -- The U.S. House of Representatives' Natural Resources Committee approved a trio of bills Wednesday that would allow new oil and gas leasing in U.S. coastal waters and federally protected land in Alaska, and expand oil shale drilling in the Rocky Mountain region.

With scant support from Democrats, the committee passed the Republican-backed Alaskan Energy for American Jobs Act; Protecting Investment in Oil Shale the Next Generation of Environmental, Energy, and Resource Security Act; and the Energy Security and Transportation Jobs Act.
