Korea Electric Eyes $40M Uranium Investment

Law360, New York (February 1, 2012, 7:40 PM EST) -- Korea Electric Power Corp. has paid $8 million for a sizable stake in Canadian mining firm Strathmore Minerals Corp. and set the stage for a $32 million joint venture project to develop uranium mines at sites now under exploration, Strathmore announced Tuesday.

Strathmore has agreed to sell Kepco a 14 percent stake in the company in order to raise the funds needed to assess uranium deposits in Wyoming, and the Korean nuclear power company has the option to acquire a 40 percent interest in a proposed...
