Indian Utility Accused Of Hoarding Solar Contracts

Law360, New York (February 1, 2012, 3:57 PM EST) -- India’s second-largest private-sector utility Lanco Infratech Ltd. improperly hogged contracts from that country's ambitious national solar energy program, creating dummy companies to win more capacity, a New Delhi-based environmental group alleged Wednesday.

The Center for Science and the Environment is calling for further investigations of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, India's government-backed initiative to boost solar production by 1,100 megawatts in the next two years.
