DOI Advances Mid-Atlantic Wind Energy Initiative

Law360, New York (February 2, 2012, 3:07 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's initiative to lease wind energy projects off the mid-Atlantic coast has cleared a major environmental review hurdle, allowing the agency to hold auctions as early as this year, it said Thursday.

The DOI's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has found there would be no significant environmental or socio-economic impacts related to issuing wind energy leases for selected areas of the outer continental shelf off New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
