Grassley Grills FDA Over Whistleblower Treatment

Law360, New York (February 2, 2012, 6:26 PM EST) -- Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, is launching an investigation into whether the U.S. Food and Drug Administration improperly retaliated against employees who reported that the agency was approving what they believed were unsafe medical devices, the senator said Thursday.

Grassley, who has often made a cause of whistleblower protection, sent a letter to FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg Tuesday with a list of 10 questions about the FDA's treatment of the whistleblowers and its alleged monitoring of their communications with Congress.
