Caterpillar Strikes Back At Recalcitrant Union

Law360, New York (July 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Heavy equipment maker Caterpillar Inc., which was accused of denying medical benefits to its retirees in violation of its union contracts, has struck back at the union for allegedly violating its own terms of the contracts.

In a pair of third-party lawsuits filed Wednesday with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, Caterpillar alleged that seven locals of the United Auto Workers union breached the contract terms they negotiated in 1998 and 2004.
