Chinese Court Nixes AMSC's IP Theft Suit

Law360, New York (February 6, 2012, 8:36 PM EST) -- A Chinese court has dismissed for lack of jurisdiction one of American Superconductor Corp.'s three copyright infringement suits alleging customer Sinovel Wind Group Co. Ltd. used intellectual property stolen by a former employee, the power system designer revealed Monday.

AMSC is seeking to recover more than $1.2 billion from Sinovel in the cases, which stem from Sinovel's alleged contractual breaches in March and AMSC's discovery of alleged intellectual property theft by Sinovel employees in June.
