Pa. Lawmakers To Allow Counties To Charge Fracking Fees

Law360, New York (February 9, 2012, 7:13 PM EST) -- Pennsylvania lawmakers passed a bill Wednesday that would allow counties to impose fees on companies that use natural gas wells, an initiative designed to offset the potential effects of hydraulic fracturing in the state.

The Pennsylvania House voted in favor of H.B. 1950 by a margin of 101 to 90. The state Senate passed it in a 31 to 19 vote on Tuesday. The bill now heads to Republican Gov. Tom Corbett, who said he would sign it into law.
