Volvo Recalls Trucks Over Low-Temp Spontaneous Braking

Law360, New York (February 9, 2012, 7:19 PM EST) -- Volvo Trucks North America is recalling more than 20,000 trucks equipped with traction-control valves the parts' maker says can leak in subzero temperatures, activating truck brakes and potentially causing a crash or fire, federal officials said Thursday.

Between 50,000 and 60,000 trucks could be affected in total, including vehicles made by Volvo, Navistar International Corp. and Paccar Inc., according to a Feb. 2 statement from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, the Elyria, Ohio-based company that made the valves.
