Car Seat Maker To Pay $10M For Baby's Death

Law360, New York (July 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Infant equipment maker Evenflo Company Inc. has been ordered to pay $10.4 million to the parents of a four-month-old boy who died during a car accident when he fell out of his baby seat and flew 60 feet.

Chad and Jessica Malcolm, whose son Tyler died in 2000, accused the company of selling the defective On My Way car seat even after tests revealed that it could easily crack or break during an accident and that the seat belt securing the child could come undone....
