Judge Pushes New Vioxx Cases Forward

Law360, New York (July 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge said Friday that cases alleging the drug Vioxx caused the plaintiffs to have strokes will be the next round of cases in the multidistrict litigation to be tried.

Judge Eldon E. Fallon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said, “We may carve out five or six stroke cases and try them," according to the Associated Press.

The cases tried so far have involved people who alleged they had heart attacks because they took the Merck & Co. drug....
