GOP Signals Fight Ahead Over Medical Device User Fees

Law360, New York (February 15, 2012, 5:30 PM EST) -- House Republicans signaled Wednesday that they're ready to fight over the re-authorization of the Medical Device User Fee Act, saying in a committee hearing that they were skeptical that a doubling of user fees would improve the device approval process.

Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, vice chairwoman of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, said the industry should not have to double user fees “just to get adequate customer service” from the Food and Drug Administration.
