Lawmakers Aim To Stem US Natural Gas Exports

Law360, New York (February 14, 2012, 10:42 PM EST) -- A Democratic Congressman on Tuesday introduced a pair of bills in the U.S. House of Representatives aimed at blocking exports of domestically produced natural gas, saying the move would keep prices low for American consumers.

Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., is the sponsor of the Keep American Natural Gas Here Act, which would require the Department of the Interior to accept bids to drill for natural gas on public lands only from companies that say they will offer the extracted natural gas for sale in the U.S....
