Enviros Say Fla. Agency Hushed Up Plan To Block Creek

Law360, New York (February 16, 2012, 1:41 PM EST) -- Two conservation groups have launched a lawsuit to prevent a Florida state agency from dumping 50 million pounds of sand into a creek, a plan devised during illegal closed-door meetings, plaintiffs' counsel said Tuesday.

Save Our Creeks Inc. and the Environmental Confederation of Southwest Florida asked a Florida state court for a temporary injunction barring the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission from acting on a recommendation from a secret advisory committee, according to Earthjustice, which is representing the groups in the suit.
