New Bill Would Give FDA Greater Development, Review Tools

Law360, New York (February 16, 2012, 8:27 PM EST) -- Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C., proposed legislation Wednesday that she says would allow the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to advance investment in and development of new treatments and products for unmet medical needs.

Hagan says her Transforming the Regulatory Environment to Accelerate Access to Treatments Act is necessary to improve overall public health. In proposing the legislation, Hagan contends that Congress should allow the FDA to more effectively expedite development and review of innovative new medicines that will address unmet medical needs for serious or life-threatening diseases...
