Senate Approves SDNY Judge After 5-Month Filibuster

Law360, New York (February 17, 2012, 6:39 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate on Friday confirmed Jesse M. Furman for a seat on the Southern District of New York following a five-month, Republican-led filibuster over concerns about his past writings on gun control and religious clubs in schools.

After voting for cloture Wednesday, senators voted 62 to 34 to confirm Furman, who has been an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York since 2004.
