Baxter Recalls Infusion Pumps

Law360, New York (July 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Baxter Healthcare Corp. have recalled over 500 of Baxter’s Flo-Gard and Colleague brand infusion pumps that had been returned to the company for maintenance and then returned to hospitals and health care providers, the FDA said Friday.

Baxter made the decision to recall the products after discovering that certain documents relating to the pumps’ repair, tests and inspections had been falsified. Infusion pumps dispense intravenous fluids and drugs to patients automatically, and a malfunction could result in serious injury...
