Lexus Targeted In Airbag Sensor Suit

Law360, New York (July 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Lexus USA Inc., a unit of Toyota Motor Corp., has been hit with a proposed class action that says the luxury car company failed to fix failing airbags in its 2007 ES350 models.

According to the suit, filed last week in a Broward County Circuit Court, the cars' airbag-activation sensors, which measure passengers' weight so that airbags deploy only on adult passengers, have been failing periodically to recognize the presence of a passenger.

That failure, the suit says, could leave passengers unprotected by airbags during accidents....
