French Government Pledges To Correct Energy Law

Law360, New York (August 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The French government will introduce a new energy law this fall aimed at correcting current regulations that base energy rates on the location of the customer.

French newspaper Les Echos reported on Wednesday that Finance Minister Christine Lagarde has pledged to revamp a current law that ties energy contracts to place of residence. This means that if a customer, who has chosen an energy provider and rate structure, changes residence, the next occupants of the customer's former residence must keep the same provider and rate....
