D.C. Attorney Fee Disputes Must Still Be Arbitrated

Law360, New York (February 22, 2012, 9:03 PM EST) -- Attorney-client fee disputes in Washington D.C. will continue to be resolved through arbitration after the D.C. Court of Appeals last week declined to hear a challenge to the issue when its bench was unable to agree on its jurisdiction over the matter.

According to the court's Feb. 16 order, the bench was split evenly on the matter, and the trial court's order directing the parties to settle their fee dispute through arbitration was upheld.

The suit was brought by Washington-based attorney Pamela B. Stuart in D.C....
