Alstom-Led Team Lands $1.7B Malaysian Power Plant Deal

Law360, New York (February 23, 2012, 1:24 PM EST) -- A multinational consortium led by France's Alstom SA inked a deal Thursday valued at 5 billion Malaysian ringgit (nearly $1.7 billion) with a unit of Malaysian power giant Malakoff Corp. Bhd. to build essential equipment for a 1,000-megawatt coal-fired power plant in southern Malaysia.

Alstom was named the contractor for the engineering, procurement and construction contract, according to a statement Malakoff issued Thursday. The contract was signed with wholly owned Malakoff subsidiary Tanjung Bin Energy Issuer Bhd.
