UK Web Co. Keeps 'Wapple' Mark Despite Apple's Protest

Law360, New York (February 23, 2012, 2:50 PM EST) -- U.K. Web developer Ltd. has prevailed in a trademark suit brought by Apple Inc. after the U.K.'s intellectual property regulator ruled that the use of the "Wapple" mark does not leech off the Silicon Valley giant's reputation, the developer announced Wednesday.

The mobile Web technology developer said the U.K. Intellectual Property Office ruled that the company does not have to give up the Wapple mark under protests from Apple as to its confusing similarity with the American company's ubiquitous brand.
