Faulty Vials Prompt Blood Pressure Med Recall

Law360, New York (February 23, 2012, 2:33 PM EST) -- Drugmaker American Regent Inc. on Thursday voluntarily recalled more than 100,000 units of its intravenous blood pressure medications after visible particles were found in vials containing the drug, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recall is for the company’s 5-milliliter vials of phenylephrine HCl injection.

While American Regent said safety concerns prompted the recall, the company has not received any reports of adverse events related to the issue. There were between 100,000 - 150,000 units in the one lot that was recalled, the...
