EU To Review Indian, Asian Polymer Duties

Law360, New York (February 24, 2012, 3:26 PM EST) -- The European Commission will initiate a review of the anti-dumping duties assessed against imports of polyethylene terephthalate, a polymer often used in plastic containers, from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand, according to a notice published Friday.

The European regulator honored a request by the European Polyethylene Terephthalate Committee of Plastics to investigate whether the expiration of existing anti-dumping duties — which, without review, would have occurred Tuesday — would adversely affect domestic European PET producers' ability to compete with the foreign imports.
