Shell Sues Greenpeace Over Occupation Of Alaska-Bound Rig

Law360, New York (February 27, 2012, 1:56 PM EST) -- Shell Gulf of Mexico Inc. asked an Alaska federal court Friday to block Greenpeace Inc. activists from barricading or occupying its drilling ship bound for the Arctic, arguing the protesters — including actress Lucy Lawless — threatened its transportation contracts and endangered lives.

The oil giant said Greenpeace members unlawfully boarded the Noble Discoverer last week in New Zealand and chained themselves to drilling equipment to stop the ship from reaching Alaska's Chukchi Sea.
