GOP Says Interior Department Overstated Oil, Gas Success

Law360, New York (February 28, 2012, 3:33 PM EST) -- Republican senators worked Tuesday to tear apart U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar's claim that oil and gas production in the U.S. is at a peak, arguing that any recent growth in production occurred outside of federal lands.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee spent the bulk of a hearing on the U.S. Department of the Interior's proposed $11.5 billion budget for 2013 bickering over whether the Obama administration had moved aggressively enough to open federal lands to oil and gas production.
