Sebelius, Lawmakers Spar Over Long-Term Medicare Solvency

Law360, New York (February 28, 2012, 5:49 PM EST) -- In a contentious U.S. House of Representatives hearing Tuesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius tried to deflect criticism over the lack of a long-term Medicare fix in President Barack Obama’s proposed budget, arguing lawmakers have also failed to tackle the issue.

Although the fiscal year 2013 budget proposal calls for more than $350 billion in cuts to Medicare, the administration did not propose structural changes to the program.
