Mining Co. Greenlights Tungsten Project In Spain

Law360, New York (February 28, 2012, 5:56 PM EST) -- British miner Ormonde Mining PLC on Tuesday greenlighted a tungsten mine in western Spain after getting confirmation from a feasibility study that there are enough proven reserves to make the project viable.

Annual production of 227,000 metric tons of a tungsten compound would make the Barruecopardo mine one of the world's biggest outside China, which dominates global production of the metal, used in light bulbs and metal tools.

Ormonde said it would now look for funding to move the project forward. Construction is slated to start...
