Algonquin Inks 25-Year Wind Energy Deal With SaskPower

Law360, New York (February 28, 2012, 7:14 PM EST) -- The generating arm of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., the Ontario-based cross-border power company, has signed a 25-year deal to sell electricity from a 177-megawatt wind project to Saskatchewan Power Corp., beating out 20 other proposals to supply clean power to the government-owned utility, Algonquin said Tuesday.

Algonquin Power Co., or APCo, will build a $355 million, 177-megawatt wind farm in southern Saskatchewan that is scheduled to be complete in late 2016. The project will use 77 wind turbines, but no further construction details were immediately...
