Chesapeake Reveals DOJ Environment Probe In W.Va.

Law360, New York (March 1, 2012, 12:28 PM EST) -- Oil and gas producer Chesapeake Energy Corp. said Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Justice was investigating possible criminal violations of the Clean Water Act at three of its sites in West Virginia.

The Oklahoma City-based company is cooperating with the DOJ, it said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in which it warned investors that it faces potentially significant civil and criminal penalties.
