Japan Orders Adidas To Stop Fixing EasyTone Shoe Prices

Law360, New York (March 2, 2012, 2:55 PM EST) -- Japan’s Fair Trade Commission on Friday ordered Adidas Japan KK to cease price-fixing, after the commission found the company’s Reebok unit had instructed retailers to sell certain toning shoes at a set price.

The JFTC issued a cease-and-desist order against Adidas Japan, finding the shoe maker forced stores to sell Reebok’s EasyTone-brand toning shoes at designated retail prices.

Before issuing the order, the JFTC gave advance notification to Adidas Japan on the content of the order, according to the JFTC.
