DOE To Work With 3 Cos. In Modular Nuclear Reactor Project

Law360, New York (March 2, 2012, 9:06 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Energy is launching three public-private partnerships to develop plans for small modular nuclear reactors near the Savannah River in South Carolina as part of the Obama administration’s low-carbon emissions nuclear energy efforts, the agency announced Friday.

The department has signed agreements with Hyperion Power Generation Inc., Holtec International subsidiary SMR LLC and NuScale Power LLC to support the potential private-sector development, testing and licensing of small modular reactor technologies at the Savannah River facilities as part of the Obama administration’s bid to...
