Judge Misread Credit Card Patent Terms, Fed. Circ. Hears

Law360, Washington (March 5, 2012, 4:02 PM EST) -- SmartMetric Inc. on Monday tried to convince the Federal Circuit that a lower court judge had misinterpreted the key claim terms in its patent infringement suits against American Express Co., Visa Inc. and MasterCard Inc. over contactless card payment technology.

SmartMetric is appealing a California federal judge's Markman ruling that adopted claim constructions favorable to the three major credit card companies.
