Senate's $109B Transportation Bill Remains Stalled

Law360, New York (March 6, 2012, 2:41 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate failed Tuesday morning to find bipartisan traction for a $109 billion surface transportation spending bill that would reauthorize and restock the coffers of the nearly insolvent Highway Trust Fund, which is set to expire on March 31.

In a 52-34 vote, just shy of the 60 yeas needed, Senate's Republican members prevented cloture, a procedural motion to end debate and move legislation forward, on the stalled Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act, S. 1813, due to disputes over pending amendments...
