Enviro Group Accuses City Of Illegal Sewage Dumping

Law360, New York (March 7, 2012, 4:23 PM EST) -- An environmental group hit the city of Hattiesburg, Miss., with a Clean Water Act suit in Mississippi federal court Friday, accusing the city of unlawful sewage and wastewater discharges into two local rivers.

The suit, filed by environmental advocacy network Gulf Restoration Network, says the city has continually violated its CWA discharge permits by releasing sewage that exceed the amounts allowed from two wastewater treatment lagoons into the Leaf and Bouie Rivers.
