NM Gov Slashes $137M Project Bill

Law360, New York (March 7, 2012, 5:52 PM EST) -- New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, R, cut nearly $23 million on Wednesday from a $137 million bill to fund hundreds of capital improvement projects with severance tax bonds, while passing in full a separate property-tax-supported bond bill.

Using her line-item veto power, the governor nixed 194 projects of a total 470 requested by state lawmakers, saying many were not adequately funded or were unnecessary earmarks, according to an executive message.
