Obama Dragging Feet On Fast-Track Trade Authority, Sens. Say

Law360, New York (March 7, 2012, 4:38 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama must ask Congress soon for fast-track authority to negotiate trade agreements, several U.S. senators said Wednesday, questioning the administration's negotiation of the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement without the authority.

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk told the Senate Finance Committee that Obama plans to seek fast-track authority, formally known as Trade Promotion Authority, “at the appropriate time” in order to complete the Trans-Pacific Partnership with eight other countries, as well as future trade deals.
